Three major thoroughfares pass through Santee – I-52, I-67, and I-125 – making traveling to and from the city easy and convenient. You can easily get to the sparkling beaches of La Jolla and the diverse attractions of Downtown San Diego, as well as the rural communities around Cleveland National Forest.  But Santee has no shortage of recreational options within its borders. If you love the outdoors, Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve allows for a quick escape to nature. Encompassing 194 acres, this privately owned park encompasses an expansive camping ground surrounding seven lakes, stocked year round with a variety of sports fish. You can paddle or canoe on the water, and hike or bike on over five miles of trails. Just southeast of the city is Mission Trails Regional Park, while northwest is the vast Cleveland National Forest. There are also a number of city and community parks and resorts within the city, including Carlton Oaks Country Club, Town Center Community Park, Woodglen Vista Park, and Big Rock Park.  If you love the theatre, you can catch a live performance at Off-Broadway Live, and for movie night, the Santee Drive-in Theatre offers a nostalgic movie watching experience.
