Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty of reasons to love Bonita. From one end to the other, the town boasts a wealth of parks and outdoor leisure areas where you can do a variety of activities. At the heart of the community is the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course, considered one of the finest golf courses in San Diego. Surrounding the golf course is a walking trail where residents walk, run, or go horseback riding. Golfers will also love Bonita Golf Course, which is flanked by Sweetwater Summit Regional Park to the north and Sweetwater Regional Park to the south. Sweetwater Regional Park boasts an extensive walking and equestrian trail and is a wildlife preserve where you can go bird and wildlife watching, or fishing at the small pond in the area. Bonita has a strong equestrian heritage that has been excellently preserved through the years. The Bonita Valley Trails organization oversees an abundance of riding trails in the town, some of which connect to the surrounding communities.
